Directions: For quick application, apply a small amount onto fingertips and massage into irritated and dry scalp. Shampoo after if so desired. For hot oil treatment, warm oil under hot water and apply oil to damp hair massaging into each strand. Wrap hair in towel that has been warmed by hair dryer and let hair sit for 15-20 min. Shampoo as normal to rinse oil clean away. Do not use conditioner after hot oil treatment. Perfect for all hair types, including African American hair.

What causes scalp seborrheic dermatitis?

Scalp seborrheic dermatitis, otherwise known as dandruff is a flakey dry scalp.

The cause of scalp seborrheic dermatitis is unknown although there is research indicating the use of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, the foaming agent in shampoos can irritate the scalp and skin causing seborrheic dermatitis.

There are nutritional deficiencies associated with seborrheic dermatitis such as too much glucose in the system from foods containing sweeteners such as sugar and high fructose corn syrup, and from white flour. Other nutritional deficiencies associated with seborrheic dermatitis include a lack of Vitamin B's and essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6.

Although common treatment for scalp seborrheic dermatitis is a dandruff shampoo, the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate may be keeping the scalp from a full recovery and may cause a secondary infection to set in.
